Above are a few of the sculptures I have made. When sculpting, I tend to the surreal, often seeing faces, or parts of them, in the objects I create. Similar to my artwork in other mediums, I find inspiration in "trash," or in this case, the off-cuts of the ceramics process.
The first sculpture was made entirely from the clay lost while throwing three distinct clay bodies on the potter's wheel.
I made the second sculpture after visiting a museum and seeing dozens of serious busts. I found it absurdly satisfying to sculpt this miniature bust, and then adorn it with a cartoon cat and bold colors.
As time goes on, I am experimenting with sculpting realistic figures, and am further building this skill in the sculpture courses I am taking.
